(not so Wordless) Wednesday

British airspace finally opened back up at 22:00 on Tuesday and TLS has a Thursday flight to Omaha. This means that I get to see my fiancé and only have to spend one day alone with the future mishpacha in law. I asked the chapter that KMH and I advise to make an 11:11 wish for airspace to open back up. Amazing what the 11:11 wishes of 80+ sorority girls can accomplish!

Giveaway winner and good thoughts needed

I apologize for not posting a giveaway sooner. Thank you to everyone who entered and thank you once again to Elizabeth for donating the umbrella.

Congratulations to kmb564 for winning this giveaway!!!

In other news, I'm sure by now you all have heard of the volcano eruption in Iceland. Due to the ash clouds in the atmosphere, just about all of European airspace is shut down. Flights have been cancelled for a few days already. TLS's brother is getting married in Omaha on Saturday. TLS is a groomsman in the wedding and was supposed to fly out on Monday. After the wedding, we were going to fly to New York for a few days to meet with a rabbi and have our engagement party. Flights are cancelled through Monday. TLS got rebooked for a Thursday. To be safe, TLS got a second ticket for Wednesday, but says there is a chance that even with those, he may not be to make it to the wedding. Right now, I am really upset and worried. If you could all please keep thinking good thoughts for us for the ash to clear and for TLS to be able to fly out, I would really appreciate it.

MRM/TLS Wedding Update

In case anyone was wondering how the start of our wedding planning is going, here is the email I sent to all of my bridesmaids about it:

OMG y'all. I am so excited and happy that you're my bridesmaids. Get to know each other. Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic- Rhode Island is neither a road nor an island. Discuss.

For the wedding itself, I am thinking that the theme should be Scarlett O'Hara at the Jersey Shore. Think the South rose again and decided to vacation for Memorial Day. KMH and RRA, you will be wearing lime green hoop skirt dresses with mutton sleeves and navy bonnets and GNB, you will be wearing the same except in fuschia with a lime green bonnet. You will all ride in to the ceremony on horses. Side saddle, of course. As for hair, it's really up to y'all what you want to do. All I ask is that you get the Hollywood bump it, chunky highlights, and leave it down so that it is exactly 14.596" from your crown. Nothing too specific. Use your imaginations here. (The bonnets will start at the back of your heads, right behind the bump.) I request that you fake and bake religiously, please invest in a membership to Hollywood tans now. Orange is a secondary color in my wedding and I would really like it if y'all were orange for the occassion. (Whoever said orange is the new pink was so NOT seriously disturbed.) Collagen lip injections are a MUST. Any pre-wedding body art must be approved by yours truly. For nails, you will be getting acrylic pink and green French manis with T**** in rhinestones on one hand (one rhinestone letter on each nail) and MASHA on the other.

The Proposal

Thank you to everyone for your outpouring of sweet thoughts and well wishes. I am truly touched. I have finally calmed down to the point where I can post our proposal story without crying.

I knew we were getting engaged on this trip, but I didn't know when. My second to last day in England was a Saturday and we went to London for the night. TLS has platinum status at Sheraton and called ahead to let them know that he'd be proposing so we got an insane upgrade to a three-room suite. Our room was bigger than my apartment! He got us tickets to Phantom of the Opera on the West End and we went to dinner at an Italian place before the show. Yours truly brilliantly left the tickets at the hotel so we had to skip dessert, take a cab to the hotel, have the driver wait, and go back to the theater two blocks from the restaurant where we originally were. Since I am pretty much obsessed with Phantom of the Opera, TLS's plan was to propose during intermission. I accidentally put the kibosh on that by asking him why he looked so nervous during the show. He knew how it ends. Whoops. After the show, we walked along the park back to our hotel. At the hotel, we decided to go to their bar/lounge area where they do afternoon teas there during the day. They had these gorgeous Japanese-inspired murals on the walls and I love Japanese art, so he asked an elderly couple to take a few pictures of us. After the man took the last one, TLS said "just one more," took the ring out of his jacket pocket, got down on one knee, and said "Masha will you marry me?" I covered my face with my hands and started half laughing half crying hysterically. Then there was about three straight minutes of me going "Oh my G-d, oh my G-d." When I had calmed down enough, he put the ring on my finger. Right finger, wrong hand. I switched the ring to the correct hand, put my arms around him, and started kissing him. As we walked back to our table he went "you did say yes, right?"

April Showers bring May Flowers

I absolutely hate inclement weather. I define inclement weather as anything below 73 degrees with anything falling out of the sky at all. (Yes, I hate rain with an undying passion. This is why I spend so much time in England.) The month of April is usually not a favorite one for me or my hair. I have written on here before that I firmly believe in using brightly colored, fun rain accessories to counteract the gloom and doom of a rainy day. For my April giveaway, it seems only fitting that I do an umbrella giveaway.

The winner of this giveaway will receive a beautiful Vineyard Vines patchwork umbrella.
