November giveaway

My love affair with stuffed animals started at an early age when I got my Teddy as a gift the day I was born. From the tender age of too young to comprehend things, he became my best friend. He has been with me through two surgeries, several hospitalizations, and too many breakups to count. He never talks back, is always there to listen and give a bear hug, and is the best friend a girl could possibly ask for. I believe that you are never too old to cuddle with your teddy bear.

Since Harrods is reknown for its teddy bear collection, I knew that there was no way that I could go in there and not come out with a bear. On my first trip to England in 2000, I walked out with this one,

and in September, Harrod the teddy bear was added to my collection.

The website doesn't have an exact picture of mine, but he is a beautiful caramel color instead of the white.

Since I would like to share the love, this month's giveaway will be a stuffed animal from Harrods' collection. After spending more time than I would like to admit on the site looking at all of the bears, I could not decide on which one to use for the giveaway, so it will be a surprise. Whichever one looks at me with its big brown bear eyes and says "MRM buy me" will be the one that goes home with me.

To enter this giveaway, leave a comment telling me if you have a favorite stuffed animal that has stood the test of time for one entry. Become a follower for a second entry. For a third entry, blog about this giveaway. For a fourth entry, follow me on twitter and post about this on twitter (@whaleflipflops). You can also get one entry for every person who enters that you referred. This giveaway will run until midnight EST on Monday, November 9th. TLS will draw the winner and I will post it on Tuesday or after I get back.

  2. Two:

    1. Theadore Bearington - a stuffed bear I got when I was born. Still have his original outfit. He's been through it all, including a terrible stomach flu when I was in first grade and he got washed about three times that week. Poor guy.

    2. Elenore - a cabbage patch doll (an original one - when they were all cloth) from when I was born. She's also been through the ringer, tho there are doll makers that are able to work on these original dolls so she's been patched up a few times. He yarn hair is still all there, tho it has smelled better days. Also still have her original outfit, tho I keep it in tissue in my closet b/c its falling apart.

    And I'm your stalker.

  5. I actually collected bears as a kiddo nd have trunks and tupperware bins FULL of them but the one that means themost to me is my bear Rodney. He was a white soft bear that my uncle Doug brough home from China for me when I was 3. He is so worn and loved that he really isnt so soft any more (except behind his knees a little bit). I have him wrapped in a soft bag so one day I can give him to my first Child!
I also had a Cabbage Patch Kid named Nora who went EVERYWHERE with me untill I was probably 12 or 13.... we had matching outfits and when we went on vacation to Disney my Aunt Kim ALWAYS made her a new Princess outfit! My Dad still refers to her as Patch when he sees us in pictures! She is also tucked away waiting to have a new home with a daughter when I have one!!!

  15. I have a bunny, appropriately named Bunny. He's grey and has been holding a lace butterly since I was a baby. At this point, his grey is much darker than it used to be, and that poor lace butterfly might be missing a wing. But he's mine and will never leave me :). I used to cry if I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't find him.

  21. What a fabulous give away!!! I'm a follower of course and I've posted on my sidebar.

I have a teddy bear that I adore. He sits on my dresser now and I just grin every time I see him. I've only had him a few years but he's so special to me. My Dad gave him to me for Valentine's Day after our Mom died. She was always the one to do gifts so this was so hard for him. I'll never let that bear go.

Ellie also has a special stuffed cat named Chili that she got the day my Mom passed. She found him in the gift shop at the hospital and Chili has sad green eyes. Ellie asked me if I thought his Grandma was dying too and I immediately purchased him. Chili goes every where with Ellie even to this day.

    XOXO

  36. I have two:

    1. New Puppy- a Steiff dog my daddy got the day I was born. When I was two I dropped New Puppy when my mom were on a walk in the neighborhood. She didn't realize it until my dad got home from work that night and brought him inside. Daddy had run over him! But being the great daddy he was, he was able to fluff him back up and said he looked just like a new puppy and that's how New Puppy got his name.

    2. Sam- he's a "Wrinkle", a popular stuffed dog from the '80s. I got him in 5th grade and named him Sam after one of my summer camp counselors I thought was cute.
