grey skies are going to clear up

TLS is getting stationed in Turkey for 2 months and is going to be there by himself for the entire holiday season. The time difference between the U.S. and Turkey is 7 hours which we're not exactly thrilled about. We had been talking about seeing each other again before he leaves but it did not seem to work out thanks to his limited amount of leave. Fortunately, I work for a company that gives me 4.5 weeks of paid vacation a year. We realized that I could leave after work, take a redeye flight, and it would be less time that TLS had to take. Our original plan was for me to fly out on a Wednesday night and stay for a long weekend, but then when we realized that a Wednesday-Wednesday flight would be cheaper, I said that I could stay until Wednesday and to minimize the time that TLS has to take, he can go to work and during the day I can just play Wii, blog, and cook dinner and use it as good practice for our life in Germany. TLS said that he would have to see if he could take leave so close to him leaving. This morning, I woke up to discover a plane ticket from the Evil Empire also known as Delta in my inbox. Between the two of us, we had enough e-credits to make the cost of the ticket cheaper than a flight within the United States! And the best part? Because I'm flying out of England on Veteran's Day and TLS doesn't have to go to work that day, that's only one day of leave that he has to take! I am so happy and excited right now. A trip is exactly what I needed after the week that I've had. November 4th cannot come quickly enough!

boy update

I have to thank all of my readers for your concern and apologize a bit here. I wrote my previous post about the boy when I was in a bad mood, and when I reread it, I realized that I made him sound like a bad guy, which is not true at all and isn't really fair to him. My friends who know me well know that he is a great guy, and a lot of people didn't get that sense from reading my previous entry.

To those of you who have suggested that I talk with TLS- believe me, all we do is talk. There's not really much else we can do being so far away from each other. I have generally avoided talking about my relationship on here for two reasons 1) because there are a lot of times when I need him and he can't be there and I get upset and I don't want this to turn into a "woe is me" blog, and 2) because I know that while the situation may suck, I do have it a lot easier than a lot of other military girlfriends and wives out there. At least he is on a base in England where he is safe and is not off fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan and I know that is coming home every night, and there are a lot of women out there who don't get that peace of mind.

TLS's tour ends in May 2010 and we may not know until February where he's going to be stationed next. The waiting and the uncertainty are driving us crazy and the distance and time difference and all of the other joys that go with being in a long distance relationship just aren't helping any. There are times when I really just need a hug or a good backrub from him and I can't get that and with the time difference, we both end up staying up until like 1:00am in our respective time zones just so we can talk during the week, and we're both a little sleep deprived because of it. Because he is in the military, his job and all that goes along with it always have to take priority over me and my needs which can get really frustrating and make me feel like a second-class citizen. With all of that, it's easy to get frustrated and start to wonder "is it really worth it?"

I'm sorry if I misled anyone in my previous post. We are doing fine, just really trying to take things one day at a time.

relationship slump or just a case of the Mondays?

I have a relationship rant. I feel like we are in a slump. I love TLS dearly and he is my best friend but I'm just feeling down lately. I believe that an ideal relationship should be 50/50 and we definitely don't have that. It seems like everything centers around him and his needs and I'm put on the backburner. I know that this is a common gripe in military relationships. We've talked about this before but considering things are so much easier for him then they are for me, I don't think that he can get what I'm feeling. Case in point, this weekend I went an hour and a half out of my way and walked 40+ blocks to get him a six pack of Yuengling to bring with me to England because he loves Yuengling and you can't get it over there. While I love being able to make him happy, I know that if the tables were turned, he would not do the same for me. Am I just overreacting? What do you do when you are in a slump? How do you pull yourself out of it?

One month to go

No real post of substance here, but today marks 1 month until I leave for England to see TLS. Just to make sure I didn't forget, TLS surprised me and had these delivered to my office this morning:

Yes I did squeal like a little girl when I got them. And yes, several coworkers have asked me who they're from, is it my birthday, and what's the occassion. (Please excuse 1) the picture, it was taken with my camera phone, and 2) the mess on my desk.) Aren't they beautiful?

If you haven't yet done so, you can still enter my British Treats giveaway here. I realized after I reread it, that I said that the giveaway would run until September 13th, but the prize would be of the winner's choosing, so that doesn't work. Durf. The giveaway will actually run until September 3rd, and I will contact the winner to see if he (or he) wants loose tea or in bags.

my great big awwwww moment of the weekend

I will do a weekend recap in a separate post, but this was so cute and awwwwww-worthy that I felt the need to give it its own post.

You know those days at work when it just isn't your day? I've been having that kind of a month. Friday after work, my mother was going to the spa and said that if I came with her to keep her company, she would pay for the haircut which I so badly needed. Of course, I spent a good part of my time in the stylist's chair emailing TLS, who I thought was busy watching the Cubs game or something of the sort. Unbeknownst to me, he decided to apply for the title of boyfriend of the year and was looking around for flowers.
Saturday morning, I was straightening up the apartment. I opened the door to take out my trash, and imagine my surprise when lo and behold, there was a FedEx man holding a big ProFlowers box standing outside my door, about to knock. I opened the box and here is what was inside it:

There was also a card with a beautiful makes-you-cry message that I am not going to post because it is too personal for a public place and he would not like me doing so, but needless to say, the card on its own earned him major points.

After I got over the initial ooohing, aaaahing, and awwing, put the flowers in water, and text messaged KMH and GNB, I called him to thank him. I asked when he had ordered them and he said "last night when you were getting your hair cut. I wanted to send you flowers. I went with the mixed colors because it's a little bit of everything I feel for you." (More awwwwing.) I'm still awwwing and smiling over this. The picture does not do the roses justice at all.

thank you dear readers

I have to say that one thing that I love immensely about blogging is that when I am down or am having a hard time with being in a long distance relationship, I can put up an entry and get 19 comments from readers who have all been through what I am going through now. Thank you for that.

This weekend I had a really rough time dealing with the fact that TLS is so far away from me, and wound up spending a good portion of the day on Sunday in bed crying and holding my teddy. TLS sent me a lovely care package which I got on Saturday (I have a picture of the contents but can't find the cord to connect my camera to the computer now). Inside it was the sweatshirt that he wore in Basic Training, a 5 pack of my beloved Curly Wurly bars, a bag of miniature Cadbury's chocolates, a can of Cadbury's hot cocoa mix, a pack of Galaxy bars for my little sister (he actually wrote "for Kelly" on the wrapper), and three more of the ladybug Tesco bags- one to replace mine which is on its way to meeting its maker, and two to be donated to Foundation auction at my sorority's leadership conference next month. (How can you not be crazy about a guy who supports your sisterhood so much?) As cheesy as it may sound, it was really nice to just be able to wear his old sweatshirt and at least have a little part of him with me. We had another phone date this weekend and watched several episodes of Family Guy. It's definitely nice to be able to talk a lot on the phone.

At the end of this month, TLS will be coming to the States to visit his family for two weeks. This trip was booked a long time ago, and it's not possible for him to add on a day or two in NYC at this point. One of the places that he's going to be visiting is Chicago to go see a Cubs game with his brother and brother's wife. TLS is a diehard Cubs fan and said that one of the things that he really wants to do with me is go see a game together at Wrigley field. His brother emailed him over the weekend saying that they had an extra ticket for the game if he wanted to take me. We talked about it, and while the thought of meeting the family so soon scares me, we don't have very many opportunities to see each other, so we have to take advantage of every one that we do get. I will be flying back to Chicago for two nights on July 5th. I am slightly nervous about meeting part of his family but am so excited to get to see him again! There was absolutely no way that he could be with me for my birthday, and this is close enough to my birthday that it makes an awesome early birthday gift!

long distance relationships

For all of you bloggers out there who are currently in long distance relationships, how did you do it? I'm slowly starting to go crazy over here. I'm crazy about TLS, but the distance and time difference is really getting to me. How did you handle being in a long distance relationship? What worked and what didn't? How often did you get to see the other person? Did the relationship last? Any words of advice?

wedding situation update

After I posted my previous entry, TLS and I talked about it some more. Unfortunately, after Labor Day, I will not be able to come visit him because of work. After that, is the High Holy Days, and after that, I will be at a conference. Shortly after that, he is being sent to Turkey for Air Forcey stuff (the official name for it, clearly) and will not be back until January. Unfortunately, due to 1) the nature of my job, and 2) his vacation plans, I cannot see him before Labor Day. This means that if I don't go over Labor Day, I may not get to see him until 2010, and neither one of us is crazy about that option.

I was emailing with the bride today about her shower, and explained the situation to her. Fortunately, her groom is from Canada so they have been doing the whole uberlong distance thing for a bit and understand how there may only be certain times to see the other person. She said that she understands and won't be upset if I can't make it and is grateful to me for throwing the shower. I wish I could make it to her wedding, but it just doesn't seem like an option for me, both logistically and financially. So unless something changes with my job or TLS's assignment, I will be going over to England at the beginning of September. I got quite a few comments and emails about this, with opposing viewpoints, and I want to thank everyone who replied with either viewpoint. The situation is what it is, and now that I know that the bride is understanding and won't be upset with me, I got confirmation from the one person whose opinion mattered more than all the others.

I am already excited for this trip and am beginning to look up things to do for when I go over there. I have been to London once before and am so excited to go back! Do you have any "must do" things in England? If so, please share them. Note that I will be travelling with a boy, so anything overly girly will be vetoed by him.

a wedding dilemma

Ladies, I need your advice here. Do you remember my friend JK that's getting married? The one whose shower I'm hosting? Well her wedding date is set for September 6, 2009. That is the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. TLS and I had talked about me going to visit him over Labor Day Weekend since that would be less leave that he would have to take. Obviously, I can't be in both Detroit and London at once. So my choices right now are to:

1) Go to the wedding and go to England later on, will most likely have to be in October
or
2) Go to England for the week of Labor Day and not go to the wedding.

TLS is more of a fan of option #2. My question to all of you is- do you think that JK would be upset with me if I did this and didn't make it to her wedding? I really want to go but it doesn't seem very feasible right now since I already have to plane tickets that I need to buy, plus time off work, plus all of the cost of going to a wedding. What should I do?

ETA:
The bride is not someone that I am incredibly close with. I am already spending several hundred dollars for her shower, which is why I'm wondering. I will not know anyone at the wedding and will have to buy another plane ticket and hotel room for this.

I changed my relationship status this weekend

So I know some of you are anxious to hear about how my weekend went, so here it is.

Friday night, I went out for drinks with my mom and one of her best friends. After that I went jeans shopping (KMH knows from firsthand experience that this is the bane of my existance.) A note to the saleslady at Levi's: I am 5'2". This means that I am short. I have accepted this fact and moved on, so should you. When I ask you for jeans that are a size short, do not bring out jeans that are a size regular and suggest I wear heels or hem them. Thanks.

Saturday is the day that you all really want to hear about. I finally met up with TLS. We went to Times Square (ick) to get him a slice of NY pizza and did the Circle Line boat tour around the city. We got fortunate that the weather was absolutely gorgeous that day. Despite the fact that it's catered to tourists, I absolutely love the Circle Line. If you come to NYC in the summer, I highly recommend it. After the boat tour, we went to Crumbs for cupcakes, another requisite NYC stop. From there, we went to dinner, took the cab back to JFK, and ate our cupcakes in the cab. We have decided to try to make things work, and since nothing is official until it is posted on facebook, we changed our relationship statuses. This means, that for my birthday, instead of getting a David Yurman ring for myself, I will be getting myself a plane ticket to London to go visit TLS. Stay tuned for posts in which MRM will undoubtedly whine about how much it sucks being in a long distance relationship. I think that a large appeal of my blog is my luck with guys, or lack thereof, so hopefully it will still be interesting to read.

Sunday, I met a very hungover friend in Bryant Park for cupcakes and coffee and we went to Papyrus (my kryptonite) and Barnes & Noble (her kryptonite). Actually, in all fairness, we went to three different Papyrus stores. Yes, I have a problem. I am well aware. On my way back home, I stopped by Target and bought How I Met Your Mother season 2 on dvd. I spent all day Monday on the phone with TLS and watching dvds and just relaxed. That was wonderful.

guys ::sigh::

So CRF and I have been talking lately. Last night was his birthday so I im'd him to see if he had fun and if he was still alive. We started talking and he said "so I've decided." Then he made an HIMYM reference and changed the subject. I was joking around with him and said that I'd tell him what I decided if he told me what he decided. He said that he didn't want to say it because I would shoot him down. Eventually he said that he decided that we should hang out. Like J, he is also superflirty so I can't read him. I im'd B, my exboyfriend turned best friend, to get a guy's perspective on this. I showed him the conversation and his reply was "it's possible but yeah hard to tell depends on the guy." Thanks B. Superhelpful. Totally why I keep you around.

weekend recap

Friday night, I was supposed to go see the Wolverine movie with one of my sisters. I had to work late and was so exhausted from this week, that we ended up postponing. (Like I've said before, I work in a place where it is very rare to work more than the standard 35-hour work week, and I worked 50 last week, so our payroll department is going to have a field day when they process my timesheet.) Friday was my first time back at my apartment. I got to catch up on my mail, use my Clarisonic brush, etc. I was so exhausted from work that I ended up going to bed at like 10pm. Saturday morning I got woken up by the postman. I got a package from TLS. He was on vacation in Ireland and Germany and sent me some souvenirs. Here's what was in it:
A set of three shotglasses from Ireland- one with the harp, one with shamrocks, and one with a claddagh on it, one box of Irish truffles, a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar, 7 Curly Wurly bars (the greatest candy EVER!), one Guinness Chocolate Pint.

Do y'all see a theme here? He did good. The Irish Truffles are amazing and the box is about halfway gone. I told him that he will be going back to Ireland soon...

After that, I ran a ton of errands and then went to my sorority's alumnae vs. actives softball game. The sheer idea of me playing any sport involving a ball is just funny, and let's just say that I provided some comic relief for all. I did actually make it around the bases once, of which I am very proud. After that I went to my Nana's to give her her medication. She only asked me three times why I'm not married yet, so it was a good day.

Sunday was devoted to more errands, and packing for Chicago. KMH- the madras monogrammed beer koozie and engraved flask are already packed. After that, I went to J & B's engagement party. The party was fun except for one borderline crazy girl who decided that I was going to be "next." She told me that the Lord loves her and she was going to give me a blessing that would make me find a man. Then she proceeded to actually bless me! Yes she was sober. Yes she was serious. (Note this girl was like 24, and not a little old Yenta.) That was a bit, um, bizarre. Other than that I had a blast.

As promised, I will leave you with pictures of my beloved teddy. But first, a back story. I was given this teddy bear by one of my mother's friends the day I was born. I named it "Mishka" which is the Russian name for Teddy. I was so original. I used to take this bear everywhere with me. Note at one point in my life, it was bigger than I was. At age 4, I once delayed a flight with my screaming because I had forgotten my Teddy. When I got older and started going to summer camp, I had to leave Teddy at home on trips simply because he took up too much room in my suitcase. Then in around 2nd or 3rd grade, I decided that boys were icky and had cooties, so even though I got the cootie shot for life, I decided to play it safe and change my Teddy into a girl and gave him a girl's name. A few years later, I decided that boys were more fun than girls and better listeners, so the bear became a boy, once more. This time I call him the English version of Teddy. He has been with me through 2 surgeries, several hospitalizations, countless breakups, and Lord knows what else. And he shows it. I wish I had a before picture, but alas, I only have after.

A full body shot, leaning agains my pillow. This should give you some idea as to his size.

A close up of his face. Please note the lack of a mouth, and slightly chipped eyes. Also, until I took this picture, I did not notice just how smushed his snout is or how his eyes are slightly lopsided. I love this bear. So so much. The Coca Cola commercials in winter make me happy because they make me think of him. Have I mentioned that I am pretty much world's biggest dork?

how NOT to ask a girl out, take 2

In this entry, I mentioned one surefire way to not get a date with me. Here is an even better one. There was this one guy in college, CRF, whom I had a huge crush on. He was my total package- the awkward Jewish dorky mama's boy next door, except that he wasn't actually Jewish. (I was one of like 10 Jews in my school.) Of course, he had a girlfriend all through college. He was a great guy- really fun, easy to talk to, made me laugh, blah blah, and so we kept in touch after graduation. Like J, he is superflirty. (Why do I always seem to go for those guys, anyone want to analyze this for me?) After college, he decided to pack up and move all the way across the country. His girlfriend didn't like this and broke up with him. We remained in touch and would call/flirt/text a lot. Eventually we lost touch. A little while ago, he sent me an email asking how I was doing and saying he missed our chats and wanted to see what was up. He moved back to NY and was trying to reconnect with all of his friends. We started talking again and he's been all Debbie Downer all day today. About two months after he moved, his girlfriend found someone else and has been dating him since then (for about 3 years now). He never really got over her and it has caused him to screw up all chances at having a serious relationship with anyone else. He still thinks about her, etc. After telling me all this, he asks me if I want to go out with him. Right. While I appreciate the fact that he's 1) incredibly honest, and 2) my friend, I have zero desire to delve into THAT can of worms. I've had enough crazy this year.

I don't know where I'm gonna go where the volcano blows

So last night after staying at work past 7, I met the boy anomaly also known as J for dinner. His finals start next week, and then I leave for Chicago. As soon as I get back, he leaves for DC for the summer for an internship. He invited me to come visit him for a weekend, but I'm not sure if I really want to do that. So basically, last night was our last date for a while. Yesterday, I was emailing with Prep-E-Girl about Buffett and we were discussing my sober Buffett conundrum. Seriously folks, there is no point to going to a concert where they will be singing songs about getting drunks and screwing if absolutely no one is getting drunk. She asked if there was a concert that was nearby that was margarita-friendly and I googled the tour. I found out that he is playing in NYC at Madison Square Garden on November 24th! Granted November isn't exactly Buffett Season, but you can drink before, during, and after the show at MSG. I brought this option up to J and he also liked it a lot better than the Jones Beach option in August. The second that tickets go on sale, I will have two. This also means that as soon as summer ends and Target puts all of its summer stuff on sale, I will be the proud owner of a giant inflatable shark. Fins up!

you know you're crazed when

Someone ims you to wish you a Happy Cinco De Mayo and your response is- that's today? Seriously folks, how could I forget one of my favorite holidays? Margaritas and more margaritas and even more margaritas? Bad MRM. My date with J didn't happen this weekend, and it got moved to dinner today instead. He asked where I wanted to go, and I told him I'm ok with going anywhere just as long as it has a liquor license. He picked a restaurant that's supposed to be really fun and good. It's across the street from the restaurant that we ate at when we went to go see Phantom. Ironically enough, I'm wearing the same exact outfit that I wore that night. The only thing that's different is my purse. I really love my white Lilly top, one of the greatest articles of clothing I bought. Thank you once again to all of my readers for your kind words of inspiration. What are all of your plans for today?

I will not scream at my computer, I will not scream at my computer, I will not scream at my computer...

I have this guy "friend" who is one of the cockiest people I know. He was in the Israeli army at one point, and has definitely used that as a medium of picking up girls. Pretty much, at this point, the only two females in our synagogue that he hasn't slept with are the rabbis' wives and myself. Don't think he hasn't tried. He does not drink and is very into working out. Not a bad thing. A couple of months ago, he started doing this daily email called "______ daily :)" which is about several paragraphs worth of diet and excercise advice. On a daily basis. With an emoticon attached. I know that I am not the skinniest girl out there. Or the prettiest. I also know that I am not a heifer. I eat healthy (at times, at least) and work out at least an hour a day. I did not ask to be put on this email list. Being that this boy has the attention span of a turnip, I figured he would drop it faster than a round of hot potato. Surprisingly enough, he hasn't yet. I get enough mailing lists and other junk in my inbox and really don't need to hear all about how I need to eat nothing but alfalfa sprouts and work out several times a day. If I wanted my body to look like I had survived basic training in the Israeli army, I would join the Israeli army. Just saying. During Passover, him and his friend came over for dinner. They were joking about the email list, and I casually mentioned that I never read it and could he take me off the list? He said of course. That was about 18 or 19 emails ago. I'm still on it. These emails are really holier-than-thou and basically say that unless you are perfectly thin and toned and eat only organic foods, you are a failure at life and will never be happy. The same reason why I hated Skinny Bitch so much. Today, I sent him an email in response to the daily email asking him to please remove me from the list. His response? I can do that, but are you sure you want me to? I mean, I know you're single and you should to lose weight to find a guy.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) I didn't realize he and my mother were related. 2) I didn't realize I had somehow moved into the 1950's when I moved to Brooklyn. 3) Shut the youknowhat up. 4) I'm not taking dating advice from a guy who once slept with his best friend's girlfriend at the best friend's birthday party. Speaking of birthday parties, guess who's not going to yours buddy?

On a totally unrelated note, Happy 61st birthday Israel! You don't look a day over 60!!!!

'Cuz I'll be there in the back of your mind from the day we met till you were making me cry

As a warning, this is going to be a long boy rant post.

About two and a half years ago, I was at my best friend's birthday party and I started talking to this guy there. He was funny, Jewish, dorky, great conversation, basically, my ideal type. He was there because he's best friends with my best friend's roommate. The following day at brunch with my best friend and her roommate, I casually gave her my number so that in case he asked for it, she could give it to him without making a big production of it. Sure enough, he called a few days later. This turned out to be none other than schlong boy. We went out twice and I enjoyed myself both times, but something just didn't click, it was like he was trying too hard or something, so after that we remained friends. Or rather, as I should say, I remained friends with him. He tried for a long time to get me to be his girlfriend and I kept on saying no. Finally, one day I decided to give him a chance, partly because he was a great guy (or so I thought) and partly because he was persistent. We went out a few times and then two weeks into our "relationship" I got sick.

As I've mentioned on here several times, about a year and a half ago, I got really sick and spent nearly a month in the hospital and another month on bed rest. I had open heart surgery when I was four. Unfortunately, being that this was in the Soviet Union, the hospital's medical ethics were not totally up to par and no one bothered to check to see that that cute little four year old on the table was actually awake! Thankfully I went under right after the first cut, but really, one cut was all I needed. I have many irrational fears, but because of that horrible experience, my fear of hospitals is totally 100% justified. As you can imagine, after that, I was thrilled to have to be admitted to the hospital. In the beginning, the doctors did not know what was wrong with me, and I was starting to feel like I was never going to get out of there. I was not allowed to eat anything, was miserable, and depressed. After 10 days of being there, I started to get this feeling like I was never going to be discharged. I called my so-called boyfriend and asked him to come over to visit me to try to cheer me up. I should also mention that at this point, he had just lost his job and was at home all day. His response? "I'm sorry but I can't come visit you because hospitals and sick people scare me. I hope you understand." I told him I hoped he understood why I could never see him again. He did not call me once the remaining time that I was in the hospital. Although I did get a lovely text message saying that he hoped I wasn't angry at him. That New Year's Eve he wound up being at the same party with as my best friend. He tried to apologize to her and her response basically made him cry. (Girlfriends are so much better than boyfriends at times.)

Fast forward to several months ago. He started im'ing me on gchat again and trying to talk to me. I've been responding but keeping things curt. Mainly listening to him and not really talking. The only notable exception being Friday night when he told me about his new modeling career. Ladies, do I know how to pick 'em or what? Basically, for the past month or two, he has been im'ing me constantly trying to apologize and asking me out and saying that he wants a second chance. I always cut him off before he even gets the chance to formulate an apology because at this point, I'm not all that interested in hearing what he has to say. There's a day late and a dollar short and then there's him. He has not taken the hint and has just gotten more persistent once again. What the hell is wrong with him? (Aside from several obvious characteristics.) Does he really think I want to give him another chance?

Oh My G-d

So I'm sitting here at my computer just chatting with one of my exes talking about restaurants that I can go to when TLS comes to visit me next month. All of a sudden, my ex ims me and says "I have to tell you something and you can't freak out." I was just like "mhmmm" totally not thinking what it was going to be. Well, this is what he says "I got asked to model a sex toy a while back and now it's hitting stores next month. I'm nervous." Now when he says model, he does not mean take raunchy pictures with it, he means his manhood was used as the model for the sex toy! Women all over the English speaking world are going to be pleasuring themselves with my ex's stuff in several weeks! I have no words. Another one for the "only happens to MRM" file.

ETA: apparently, if you date a penis model, you get free sex toys before they come out on the market. Where is another bottle of wine? Quote of the night: He is sending you his penis?- my little sister. Love you Kelly.

need fashion advice

Hello ladies, I need some serious fashion help, and who better to turn to than all of you? After already being in an amazing mood and waking up with a smile on my face thanks to Phantom, I checked my email and saw that TLS had sent me an email. The Air Force is sending him to Atlanta for a training thingamajig (yes, that is the actual name that the Air Force calls it by) and he requested a layover in JFK on his way back from Atlanta. He got it and now Memorial Day Weekend, I will get to hang out with him!!! (Insert another big smile here.) Now here is my fashion question- we will be together from around noon until 8pm. We are going to go on the Circle Line, walk around a bit, and do dinner. I need an outfit that is appropriate for both daytime and dinner. Obviously we are not going to be going to a very fancy place, but still. I thought about wearing a cute dress with the platinum Jacks that I plan on getting, but I don't know if it will be too cold for that on the boat. What would you wear?

Date Recap

So I am at my mother's house now sneaking on her computer to post so all you don't have to wait until morning to hear about my date. We met at the restaurant where he told me to meet him and ended up going to this really good kosher steak place. Thank G-d steak is still kosher for Passover, otherwise life would just not be worth living. After dinner, he said "we have some time, let's take a walk." We walked around Times Square for a bit, went to see the View from the Marriott, and then we walked around some more, holding hands. (Insert obligatory awwwwwwwwwwwww here.) We're walking around and he turns on 46th street and Broadway and starts walking towards 8th Avenue. About three-quarters of the way down the block and says "ok, we're here." What, you may ask, is on 46th between Broadway and 8th? We'll I'll tell you.

The Majestic Theater also known as the home of Phantom of the Opera!!!!!!!!!!
(insert high-pitched sorority girl shriek here- seriously folks, the sound I made was only audible to dogs and dolphins)

After about 10 straight minutes of me going "Oh my G-d, oh my G-d" (the way I was going on about it, you'd think I had just gotten engaged or something), we finally got inside the theater. I should probably mention that our seats were in the Orchestra, not even 15 rows from the stage. When the chandelier "fell" and broke on the stage, it was above our heads! (Insert more shrieking and "oh my G-d" here if you will. I really need to work on my poker face, clearly.)

The show was amazing, as it always is. This was the closest that I have ever sat to the stage and I really got to see the costumes and such up close. It was incredible. Best. Night. Ever. I don't cry during movies ever, but I do cry during Broadway shows. Actually just one. Take a wild guess which one that is. In retrospect, I should have probably warned him about that. Although it was more of a whimper than a full-on cry and my mascara didn't run so all is good. KMH, I'm very proud of you for not texting me 30 times in the course of this date. Keep up the good work. I'm off to bed now with a very big smile on my face. Way happier than any clam could ever be.
