does this ever happen to anyone else?

You open the fridge and see that it's full and think "oh I don't have to go grocery shopping." Then when you're hungry, you decide to make dinner only to open the fridge and discover that while your fridge may be full, it actually contains nothing but condiments and beverages. "What can I make with 2 bottles of wine, vodka, Coca-Cola, water, spicy mustard, ketchup, peanut butter, low-fat ranch dressing, and 2 pieces of string cheese?" Not as much as you'd think. Epic fail.

  1. Ahh this happens to me CONSTANTLY. It's like you're staring in my fridge. You are describing almost exactly what is in my fridge right now. We are fridge soul mates.

  3. Um, heck yeah. Sometimes, I look in my fridge and there is plenty to cook or eat, but nothing seems appealing.

  4. At moments like this I often end up going for a bowl of Raisin Bran. I must eat about 10 bowls a week. Someone needs to write a cookbook about cooking with all those random ingredients.. Who needs staples when you can't make anything with them?!

  5. Not often, but when it does, it's always when I'm hungriest.

  6. So this happens to me a lot, but not so much beverages and condiments so much as expired food and condiments. What can I make with month-old milk, brown tomatoes, something that might be a lime or an old apple, Siracha Sauce, Rum, and BBQ sauce?

  10. This is so Princess, I can't tell you. And creative recipe-conjuring just doesn't happen, nope. We like Torch Lake Prep's idea of cereal, you can't go wrong there!

  12. You know...we were having this discussion yesterday, and someone told me about this website:

    http://www.supercook.com/

You enter the ingredients you have, and it creates a recipe! However, I have been told that it will deny you if your ingredients are too pathetic. I'm kindove afraid to use it..for this reason :)

  13. Hate that! :) Happens to me all the time. Although I just did our grocery $hopping, and I'm thinking we're going to be eating some weird combos for a while to help cut down on the $$$! :)
