I don't care if we're in a recession, I'm getting my hair done

I have been getting my hair Japanese straightened for several years now. The process is not cheap, but I don't care. It saves me a lot of time in the long run and makes me feel better about myself, which to me, is worth the price tag. As I have been freaking out about getting ready for my England trip and getting my hair done and packed, etc., TLS and some of my friends have been trying to convince me that my hair does not look as scary as I think it does. I'm sure of that. I also realize that the money I spend on my hair would be better spent in England. However, I have always had issues with my hair and am very picky about it. I only use certain brands of haircare products (Fekkai and Ojon). To me, my hair regimen will be the last thing to go. My question for all of my readers is- what is the one habit of yours that you cannot cut back on, regardless of the recession? Discuss.

  2. My mani-pedi regimen. And my (at least) monthly massage. All of these aren't crazy expensive on their own, but having just bought a house and trying to fill said house with things we need, my primping/relaxing regimen seems to be a little over the top. But I won't stop because 1) I always need a nicely manicured hand, 2) I still wear sandals and open toed shoes, so the toes must be cute and 3) if I don't get a massage, I will literally go crazy and punch someone in the face with all the stress I endure. And the $65 I spend on a massage is probably a lot less than the bail money would be for assaulting someone.

  3. I agree with Southern Starlet - mani pedis! I also found out that my health insurance will cover massages, so I'm back on the wagon with those as well. It's a quality of life issue! :)

  4. It rains a lot in England so the hair straightening was probably a very smart idea, I get a pedicure even if I really cannot afford it because they make me feel good.

  5. I totally understand you hair obsession. I too have horrible curly/wavy hair that requires expensive treatments. It makes me feel good about myself when my hair looks just right so I would never give it up...ever!

  6. I won't let my hair go. NO WAY!!! I did cut back by dyeing it back brunette but I will still get it dyed and cut. And, I won't go with out my makeup regimen. I have made an appointment with a new dermo to get the lowdown on OTC skin care whether I can just buy Oil of Olay and have it do the same stuff.

  10. I cannot go without all of my skincare products and make-up items, no matter what. I do not leave the house without make-up and I don't care what people say, the drugstore versions I've tried just don't hold a candle to the good stuff.

  11. Stick with your hair plan! It is your best and biggest accessory, keep taking good care of it! Hair I am crazy about, but I cannot do without a regular manicure! I do flowers for a living, so my hands can get in pretty rough shape, a good manicure is a must!! Oh England, you lucky girl!

  12. I am with you. I had my Yuko treatment on July 14th and it is now grown out a smidge and looks great. I live in the most humid place on earth, so I am desperate for my treatment. :)
